How to Pick a Podcasting Topic

Not long ago podcasting was something very new and most people couldn't tell you exactly what it was. Nowadays, it is not hard to find lots of different podcasts for any topic you can think of.

Podcasting is a wonderful way of communicating and sharing knowledge with people all over the world who have a particular interest. Starting your own podcast is not very difficult. You might be a regular listener to a podcast and think you can do better or as good as your favourite show, or you might be new to podcasting altogether but think you have a great idea for a show, no matter your reasons for wanting to start podcasting, you need to think about a few things.

One of these things is the topic your show is going to be about. A lot of people make the mistake of starting a podcasting show with a topic they are not that familiar with and after a few episodes they give. The topic you pick should be very easy for you and talking about it should be effortless. It should be a subject you are an expert on. If you're always explaining a particular subject to friends and families even when they don't want to hear it, then you might have your topic.

Once you have your topic, try to find a niche that is being under-served. There is no point starting yet another music podcast as there is going to be a huge amount of competition.

These are just some of the things to think about before diving in and podcasting. If you take your time to pick and plan your show from the beginning, it will be successful but if you jump on the first idea that comes to you, you might find that you run out of things to talk about after your first episode.
